The complete integration course consists of three parts: the basic course, the advanced course and the orientation course. A total of 700 hours of lessons take place in seven modules. Each participant first takes a 30-minute placement test so that they can be placed in the right module for them.
Contents
The content of the integration course is broadly defined by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees:
The basic course (3 months) offers an introduction to the basic elements of the German language: knowledge of nouns, verbs and simple sentence constructions are taught. The linguistic mastery of standard situations is practiced. In addition to grammar, dictation and text exercises, the main focus is on the practical use of the German language (primarily in the present and perfect tenses).
The advanced course (3 months) deepens and expands the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the basic course. The sentences become more complex, the arguments more well-founded and the practical use of the German language is specifically promoted in timed dialog and group exercises.
Finally, the orientation course (1 month) provides comprehensive knowledge of politics, culture and current affairs in Germany.
Duration
The complete integration course (seven modules) lasts 7 months. The only major interruption to the language course is the Christmas vacation (two weeks). As a rule, lessons are held from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 12.15 pm. Or in the afternoons from 1.00 pm to 5.15 pm
Costs
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees covers all or part of the costs for this course:

Optimal preparation for the final B-1 test
Every German integration course concludes with the so-called “German test for immigrants”. This test includes the following points:
  • Listening comprehension
  • Reading comprehension
  • Written expression
  • Oral examination
The German test for immigrants lasts 100 minutes. It is prepared as part of the integration course. For example, several mock tests are taken so that the candidates are optimally prepared for this test.
Orientation course test “Living in Germany”
Successful completion of the integration course also includes a one-hour test on the topics of “Politics, History and Culture”. There are 33 questions, of which at least 17 must be answered correctly. Preparation material for this test is also available to participants at all times. Passing both tests is attested with a certificate.
